Emraan Hashmi has finally disclosed the details about the second installment of the film Awarapan, which was released in theatres on 29 June 2007. And now, after more than a decade, he is working on the movie’s sequel. While talking to E24, Emraan talked about how he has been working on this project for 4-5 years and will start shooting the film soon.
Awarapan showed an inter-religious love story and conveyed a strong message. Audience still recalls this movie as among Hashmi’s best work till now, with a strong storyline and commendable acting, this movie gradually made its place in the audience’s hearts.
In an interview with E24, Emraan revealed some information about the film’s sequel, he stated that Awarapan has a cult following and they are not making this sequel just for the sake of making it. He explained how, first, they searched for a story and they have been working on this project for almost 4-5 years. Emraan also acknowledged the fact that the movie has increased its fan base over the years.
Hashmi said, “I think film ki ek cult following rahi hai aur ham sirf sequel banane liye ise nahi bana rahe hain, Pehle to hamne ek kahani dhundhi hai aur pichle 4-5 saalon se ispe kaam chal raha hai, aur ham jante hain ke 15 saalon mein iska fanbase badh chuka hai, aur abhi sahi waqt hai.” (I believe the film has had a cult following, and we’re not making it just for the sake of a sequel. First and foremost, we’ve found a story, and we’ve been working on it for the past 4-5 years. We also know that over the last 15 years, its fanbase has grown, and now is the right time.)
Emraan further added that the story has almost finished and that the shooting of the film will start this year. He said that we are making this film due to its demand.
“Abhi kahani almost khatam ho gayi hai aur ham isi saal mein shoot karne wale hain, to esa nahi tha ke hame bas capitalise karna hai sequel ko, hame pata hai ke waha se ek demand hai audience ki Awarapan ko lekar.” (The story is almost complete now, and we’re planning to begin shooting later this year. So it’s not as if we just wanted to capitalise on the sequel. We’re well aware that there’s a strong demand from the audience for Awarapan.) Hashmi concluded.
Awarapan 2 will be a piece of good news for the audience. The expectations for the film are going to be on top, as the movie’s first part has set the bar so high for people. The cast and other details are not revealed yet as the movie will start shooting this year. Awarapan was directed by Mohi Suri and the cast of the film includes: Emraan Hashmi, Mrinalini Sharma and Ashish Vidyarthi.
