In an X post, he firmly stated that the Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) mission will strengthen over time. With this, it is clear the he has exited Trump’s administration. He added that the mission as it progresses further, will become a way of life throughout the government.

Musk wrote on X, “As my scheduled time as a Special Government Employee comes to an end, I would like to thank President Donald Trump for the opportunity to reduce wasteful spending. The DOGE mission will only strengthen over time as it becomes a way of life throughout the government.”

Notably, he was appointed as a “special government employee,” a designation that permits individuals to serve in a federal role for up to 130 days per calendar year.

Musk Criticised Trump’s Plan?

Earlier on Tuesday, Musk had expressed disappointment and criticised a key part of Trump’s legislative plan. He referred it to as president’s “big beautiful bill’, which included tax cuts and tougher immigration measure. Speaking to CBS, Space X CEO remarked, “I think a bill can be big or it could be beautiful. But I don’t know if it could be both.” He stated that the bill raises the federal deficit and undermines the work of DOGE, the department headed by him/

While Trump on the other hand, stated that he his happy with certain aspects of it and defended the agenda. Speaking in the Oval Office, he said, ” I am not happy about certain aspects of it, but I’m thrilled by other aspects of it. The bill was recently passed in the House and has now moved to the Senate for further debate.
