Strengthening India’s defence capability, the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has conducted two consecutive successful tests of the Pralay missile from Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Island located off the Odisha coast. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh’s office shared the information

The Defence Ministry said that these tests were conducted on 28 and 29 July 2025, aimed at verifying the maximum and minimum strike range of the missile. The missiles followed the designated path with complete accuracy and successfully hit the targets. During the test, all the systems performed as expected, which was confirmed by the data obtained from tracking sensors and equipment installed on the test ship.

Pralay is an indigenous solid-fuelled quasi-ballistic missile, equipped with a state-of-the-art guidance and navigation system and capable of carrying multiple warheads on a variety of targets. The system has been developed in collaboration with DRDO’s Research Centre Imarat (RCI) and other supporting laboratories and industry partners, including Bharat Dynamics Limited, Bharat Electronics Limited, and several MSMEs.

The tests were conducted in the presence of senior DRDO scientists, representatives of the Indian Air Force and Army, and industry partners. The Defence Minister congratulated DRDO, the armed forces, and the industry on this success and said that this missile system will give the army a more technological edge in dealing with threats.

Rajnath Singh posted on his X handle that DRDO has conducted two successful tests of the Pralay missile on 28 and 29 July. DRDO Chairman Dr. Sameer V Kamat also congratulated the teams involved in the tests and said that the success of these Phase-1 tests has paved the way for the system to be inducted into the Army soon.
