Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has issued a chilling warning to the United States and Israel over any potential ground invasion, stating, “Do not send your children to hell.”
In its statement, the IRGC warned that any invading forces “will be drowned and disappear in the million-strong sea of the Iranian nation.” It further cautioned, “Do not send your children to hell under the deceit of Netanyahu and Trump,” reinforcing its threat against foreign troops.
Meanwhile, tensions in West Asia remain high. Despite claims by US President Donald Trump that negotiations with Iran are ongoing and the conflict could soon de-escalate, Washington has deployed around 2,000–3,000 troops from the 82nd Airborne Division, including command and logistical units from its 1st Combat Brigade. Analysts say this move suggests the US is preparing for multiple contingencies while still keeping diplomatic options open.
Washington is also reportedly considering a ground operation to seize Kharg Island, which handles roughly 90% of Iran’s crude oil exports. In response, Iran has begun reinforcing and mining the island with anti-personnel and anti-armor measures to deter any amphibious landing.
West Asia war
The conflict began after the United States and Israel launched strikes on Iran, reportedly killing several senior Iranian officials. Iran retaliated with missile and drone attacks targeting Israel, US military bases, and sites across the Gulf, and also attempted to disrupt movement through the Strait of Hormuz.
Now in its fourth week, the war has caused heavy casualties and widespread damage to infrastructure. It has also increased pressure on global energy markets and international shipping, particularly due to tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz.
Tehran has restricted movement through the Strait of Hormuz but continues to allow non-hostile vessels to pass after prior notification. At the same time, it has warned of a complete blockade if tensions escalate further.
Iran has also threatened additional attacks if its key demands, such as the closure of US military bases in the Gulf, the lifting of sanctions, and the removal of tolls on vessels transiting the Strait of Hormuz, are not met. It has also rejected US ceasefire proposals.
More than 2,300 people have been killed in Iran since the fighting began, including over 1,300 civilians. Among the dead are nearly 200 children under the age of 12.
On March 22, more than 100 people, including children, were injured when ballistic missiles fired by Iran struck the southern Israeli towns of Arad and Dimona, causing extensive damage to residential areas and overwhelming local emergency services, officials said.
