Don’t see David Warner getting more than Rs 4 crore: Former KKR spinner makes bold prediction before mega auction

David Warner will be one of the players to watch out for in the IPL 2022 mega auction. One of the consistent openers in the history of IPL, Warner spent 7 years at Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) before being released after IPL 2021.

An IPL-winning captain, Warner was released by the Orange Army after a below-par run in IPL 2021. He bounced back strongly in T20 World Cup and scored 289 runs to play a key role in Australia’s World Cup-winning campaign. A member of the marquee set, Warner is expected to bag a huge amount.

But as per former Kolkata Knight Riders spinner Brad Hogg, that won’t the case. Speaking on his Youtube channel, Hogg opined that Warner won’t be getting anything more than Rs 4 crore.

“All 10 teams will be very aggressive going after Shami, I wouldn’t be surprised if he is up about the 5 Cr mark or more. Don’t see Warner going for anything more than 4 Crore,” Hogg said.

“Ashwin, very economical with the ball, good lower-order batter, last year did not pick up the wickets, but still a very valuable player. I think he will go for 5-7 crores.”

Warner, who had started his IPL career with Delhi Capitals, has scored 5449 runs at 41.59. He has 4 tons and has 50 half-centuries in his account. His tally includes 201 sixes and 525 boundaries.

The opening batsman could also be one of the candidates to lead a team as a few franchises need a captain for the season.

The IPL 2022 mega auction will take place on February 12 and 13 in Bengaluru. Punjab Kings have the highest purse of Rs 72 crore while Delhi Capitals have the lowest purse of  Rs 47.5 crore. The 15th edition of the tournament will be played from the last week of March to May.
