Disengagement Nearly Complete, Patrolling To Begin Soon: Rajnath Singh Says ‘Consensus Between India-China To Restore Ground Situation’

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh  said that India and China have reached to broad consensus to restore ground situation along Line of Actual Control (LAC). He informed about the diplomatic and military level talks that took place between both the countries to resolve conflicts in some areas. He added that following this talk, to restore situation on ground, India and China have now agreed to broad consensus. This consensus has been developed on the basis of equal and mutual security. This agreement includes the rights of patrolling and grazing in traditional areas. Defence Minister further added that based on this consensus, process of disengagement is almost complete. He added that he hopes to take the matter beyond disengagement and for that the efforts will continue. “Our effort will be to move the matter beyond disengagement, but for that, we will have to wait a little longer,” said Rajnath Singh.

Agreement Between India And China

This update by the Defence Minister came after Indian government on 21st October announced that India and China have reached an agreement to resume patrolling along the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh, which will lead to disengagement.

Foreign Secretary of India, Vikram Misri had said, “Following discussions over the past few weeks, we have come to an agreement regarding the patrolling arrangements along the LAC in the India-China border area. This agreement is aimed at facilitating disengagement and ultimately resolving the issues that arose in these areas in 2020.”

Defence Minister Emphasises On Unity

Defence Minister was speaking at the e-inauguration of Major Bob Khathing Museum in Assam’s Tezpur. He remembered Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel on his birth anniversary and paid him a tribute during his speech. Rajnath said, “There are so many names that didn’t get a proper place in our history but that doesn’t mean their sacrifices were small. It is our duty to remember their sacrifices and give them respect…I pay respect to India’s first Union Home Minister and the brain behind the unity of the country, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.”

He further extended wishes on Diwali and said that with the help of unity we can achieve even the biggest goals easily. He said, “Today is Deepawali; and it is also the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, who strengthened the unity and integrity of the country. Deepawali also gives us the message of unity. Along with this, this festival also gives us the message that with the help of ‘unity’ we can achieve even the biggest goals very easily.”
