DigiYatra service was launched at Delhi Airport last month to simplify and enhance the airport experience for flyers. DigiYatra is a system which allows passengers to enter the airport using a facial recognition technology. The system makes airport check-in paperless and passenger data are processed automatically through a facial recognition system at security checkpoints and other places at airports.
DigiYatra – a decentralised mobile-based ID storage platform where you can digitally save your ID and travel documents – is currently available for domestic departures only. So with travelers’ face being their new boarding pass, they can now skip the queues at the airport and save time for terminal entry and pre-security checks. It has allowed flyers save their time and limited physical contact on availing of this facility.
How to use the DigiYatra app?
-Download the DigiYatra app on your phone from PlayStore (Android) or App Store (iOS). Once downloaded, complete the registration using mobile number. You can do this by entering the OTP sent to your phone.
-Once registered on DigiYatra, it will ask to link ID credentials using DigiLocker or Offline Aadhaar. If opted for the second option, it will ask to upload an XML file. Here, it should be noted that Aadhaar will be accepted only when the traveller’s age is above 5.
-In the next step, you will be asked to click a picture or selfie of yourself and upload it on the app. Make sure your image is clear and has no obstructions.
-To complete the enrollment procedure, upload boarding pass on the DigiYatra app and share it with the departure airport. Ensure the name on the flight ticket, Aadhaar, and boarding pass are the same when uploading documents.
When you reach the airport, follow these steps:
Arrive at the entry e-gate, Gate no. 2A, terminal 3, to use DigiYatra. Currently, the service is available at this gate only. At the gate, share and scan your bar-coded boarding pass/mobile boarding pass. Look into the camera of the facial recognition system installed at the gate. After successful validation, the e-gate will open automatically to allow entry.
Once you are inside the terminal, drop your luggage at the airline check-in desk. However, if you are not travelling with bags and suitcases, head straight for DigiYatra Gate at Zone 1 PESC, located nearby business class entry. Look into the facial recognition system installed at the e-gate. After successful validation, the gates will open to let you in for a security check.
