Dhanush has established himself as one of the most versatile actors in the film industry. He is all set to star in the biopic of APJ Abdul Kalam, who was the former and most loved President of India. The movie will directed by Om Raut but netizens have given mixed reactions over the filmmaker directing this project. This is because of the debacle of Adipurush that led to huge backlash towards Om Raut.

Announcing the movie, Dhanush wrote, “I feel truly blessed and deeply humbled to be portraying the life of such an inspirational and magnanimous leader — our very own Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam sir.”

Many netizens expressed their doubts about Om Raut helming the biopic after the backlash for Adipurush.

On the work front, Dhanush will next star in Kubra. The movie will also star Rashmika Mandanna, Nagarjuna and Jim Sarbh in the lead roles. Earlier, while speaking to Cinema Vikatan, director Sekhar Kammula revealed he was intitally hestitant to narrate Kuberaa’s story to Dhanush. He revealed, “When the story was ready, I was hesitant to narrate it to Dhanush. I was worried and doubted whether he knew me or not. However, when I called him, he surprised me and talked about his favorite films out of my filmography.”

Earlier, its teaser was unveiled which introduced different characters. Dhanush will sport two looks in the movie. He looked unrecognisable as a slum-dweller in the video and is also seen in traditional attire towards the end. Nagarjuna will be seen as a family man, whereas, Jim Sarbh will play the role of a rich businessman. Rashmika Mandanna is also seen in a different look.

The movie is produced by Suniel Narang and Puskur Ram Mohan Rao under Sri Venkateswara Cinemas LLP and Amigos Creations Pvt Ltd. It will release in Tamil, Telugu, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam.
