Popular Malayalam power couple, actor Mukesh and dancer Methil Devika have parted ways after 8 years of their marriage. Methil has finally confirmed her divorce from her husband and actor-politician Mukesh. She has sent a divorce notice through her lawyer to her husband and actor-turned-Politician Mukesh.

“I have filed the divorce petition. Mukesh didn’t reveal his stance on the matter. The reason behind the divorce is personal. I am going through a tough situation after taking this decision. So I request all to allow me to overcome this peacefully.” Devika was quoted by Mathrubhumi.

She further added, “I am not interested to defame him. There is no need to connect his personal issues with his life as a politician and actor. I don’t need to part away from him angrily,”

She was also asked to react over domestic violence allegations on Mukesh, to this she said, “I didn’t raise domestic violence allegations against Mukesh in my divorce petition. I’m not interested to react to political allegations.”

Actor Mukesh is one of the most sought after artists in the Malayalam film industry. He began his career as a theatre artist and later stepped into the film industry. He is currently serving as the MLA of the Kollam constituency, Kerala.

The couple got married on October 24, 2013. They were working together at Kerala Lalitha Kala Akademi then. He was previously married to popular south Indian actress Saritha in 1988. The couple was head over heels in love, however, in 2011, the duo got divorced. The couple has two sons.

Back in 2014, Mukesh was caught in the #Metoo campaign when Tess Joseph, a Bollywood technical director alleged that the actor had tried to molest her during the shooting of a quiz show.

“I was 20 years old quiz directing koteeswaran when the mallu host mukeshkumar called my room multiple times and then changed my room to beside his on the next sch. My then boss @derekobrienmp spoke to me for an hour & got me out on the next flight. 19 yrs on thank you Derek,” tweeted Tess.

However, Mukesh strongly denied these claims, saying that he did not know Tess Joseph.

Mukesh marked his debut in Malayalam cinema with the 1982 release film Balloon. He played the role of Chandu, a balloon seller. Sobha Mohan was seen as his leading lady and Mammootty played the second hero in the film. The movie also had some seasoned actors like Jagathy, Kaviyoor Ponnama, Thikkurissi, TG Ravi, Kalaranjini, and Jalaja among others.
