Man of masses NTR Jr returned to the big screen after two long years, but the wait seems worthwhile now as Devara: Part 1 is performing exceptionally well. The Devara’s growing box office numbers have made it the second highest-grossing film in its opening weekend. The data was shared by platform named Comscore.

As per the platform, the only movie ahead of Devara this weekend is Chris Sander Directorial The Wild Robot, with a collection of $44 million. Other movies, which have secured a position on the list, include Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Transformer 1 and Speak No Evil with weekend collection of $29 million, $25 million and $9.5 million respectively. It is to be noted that the other films mentioned above were released before Devara, and hence it’s not their first weekend collection.

Box Office Collection in India

Within India, the film collected approximately Rs 40.3 crore on the third day, taking the overall weekend collection to Rs 161 crore. On day 1 and 2, the numbers were 82.5 crore, 38.2 crore respectively, as per Sacnilk.

On day 4, which is the first Monday, the film has already collected 0.19 crore Net. As per trade experts, the film will cross the Rs 300 crore mark by end of the day.

Also starring Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, the film observed 28 percent Hindi occupancy on Sunday, mostly covering cities such as Jaipur, Mumbai, Bangalore, NCR and Lucknow. It recorded 32.28 per cent Tamil occupancy and 31.55 per cent Kannada occupancy.

About The Film

Directed by Koratala Siva, the movie also stars Shruti Marathe, Prakash Raj, Srikanth, Shine Tom Chacko and Narain in pivotal roles. The action-packed film boasts larger-than-life scenes, however, despite Saif Ali Khan’s presence and NTR Jr’s charisma, the weak storyline falls short. Janhvi Kapoor, whose name was marketed well by the makers, had a blink and miss appearance in the film.

Devara will also return for its second instalment however, no official date has been announced by the makers yet.
