Delhi To Launch 250 Mohalla Electric Buses On April 22 From Key Depots

The BJP-led Delhi government is going to start a new bus service on April 22, 2025. According to officials, the Delhi government will run this Mohalla Electric Bus service under the Delhi Electric Vehicle Interchange (DEVI). Over 250 buses will be launched on April 22.

About The Mohalla Electric Bus Service

On April 22, more than 250 new electric buses will be added to the DTC fleet. Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta and Delhi Transport Minister Dr. Pankaj Singh will flag them off. Out of these 250, more than 150 will be 9-meter-long mini electric buses. All these will be air-conditioned buses.

Benefits From THIS Service

This will be nature-friendly. This move from the Delhi government will boost connectivity. It will help build a stronger network of buses on the roads of the national capital. All these 250 buses will be launched at by the Delhi Government.

Initial Operations From Selected Depots

In the first phase, the buses will begin operations from the Ghazipur, Nangloi, and East Vinod Nagar depots. These buses are primarily intended to serve as feeder services connecting major Delhi Transport Corporation (DTC) routes and metro stations. Officials stated that the new fleet, launched under the ‘Devi’ scheme, will operate on routes spanning at least 12 kilometers. Each depot is expected to house around 100 buses.

Reserved Seating For Women

Each electric bus operated by the Delhi government can accommodate 23 passengers, while specifically assigning 6 seats to female occupants. Passengers can stand in areas that make up a total capacity of 13 persons on board the vehicles. Each bus has six battery packs that amount to 196 kilowatts , while it can travel about 200 kilometers in 45 minutes.

Fare Structure

The Devi Bus Service will offer a budget-friendly fare system, with proposed ticket prices of Rs 10, Rs 15, Rs 20, and Rs 25. Women passengers will be allowed to travel free of cost using pink tickets.
