Delhi-Mumbai Expressway Update! Key Infrastructure Project Faces Delays, Project Likely To Completed By THIS Year

India, which has numerous expressways and highways, is improving its connectivity with new infrastructure projects. One such project is the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway.

This expressway will connect Mumbai with the national capital, enhancing connectivity and significantly reducing travel time.

The total length of the expressway is 1,382 km, and it has been divided into multiple smaller packages, as reported by Jagran.

Progress on the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway project, aimed at reducing travel time between the national capital and financial hub to 12 hours, has slowed, causing additional delays. Initially projected for completion by March 2024, the deadline was later extended to 2026. This expressway will enhance the connectivity and ease the travel for commuters.

However, this now seems unrealistic due to construction delays in various sections, particularly the 87 km stretch in Gujarat. As per officials the Haryana segment is complete, but the Rajasthan section is likely to get ready by March-April 2026, as reported by Jagran. Several portion in Maharashtra is likely to get completed by end of 2025.

The planned expressway spans 1,386 km, linking the Sohna Elevated Corridor in Delhi with Virar in Maharashtra through extension branches. Once completed, it will not only make 12-hour travel between Delhi and Mumbai possible but also reduce travel time to other major cities, such as Delhi to Jaipur, to just three hours.
