The crucial section linking Central Delhi to the Delhi-Mumbai Expressway is estimated to be completed by June 2026. In a key update on India’s longest expressway, Union Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari announced that the first 9-kilometre DND-Jaitpur stretch is now 94.23% complete. Meanwhile, the Delhi-Mumbai expressway’s 59-km DND-Faridabad-Sohna link is being constructed in three packages.

The first stretch from the DND junction is expected to transform connectivity and boost economic infrastructure. In a written response to a question by South Delhi MP Ramvir Singh Bidhuri, Gadkari stated that the 59-km DND–Faridabad–Sohna section will be developed in three packages. The final two have been completed and are now open to the public. The third section, the DND-Jaitpur stretch, will likely be operational next year.

Here’s what the Union Minister said

“Project package-1 from DND junction to Jaitpur of 9 km is in the advanced stage of construction with physical progress of 94.23% and is scheduled to be completed by June 2026. Package-1 is delayed due to the delay in approval of the general arrangement drawings of the structure from the Uttar Pradesh irrigation department for crossing of the Agra canal,” the Union Transport Minister said.

Delhi-Mumbai Expressway: Routes are…

Once the last section is operational, a seamless high-speed access from Central Delhi to a vast expressway network will be established. The 1,350-km-long corridor, an eight-lane, access-controlled highway, will have a design speed of 120 kmph and will be expandable to 12 lanes.

It traverses the following states: Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Gujarat, Haryana, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan, connecting the capital with Mumbai.
