Delhi Assembly Elections 2025: ECI Announces Key Dates, Polling Set For February 5, Results On 8

The Election Commission of India (ECI)  announced the poll dates for the upcoming Delhi Assembly Elections. As per EC’s announcement, the assembly polls will be held on February 5, 2025, in a single phase. The counting of votes and results will be declared on February 8.

The press briefing took place at 2 pm at the Plenary Hall, Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. Chief Election Commissioner Of India Rajiv Kumar made the announcement. Media personnel from across the country were part of the event

All About Delhi Elections

Delhi is expected to witness a dramatic fight between Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress. BJP is hoping for a comeback in the national capital after its defeat in the last Delhi assembly polls. BJP secured 8 seats, while the AAP won 62 out of the 70 seats in 2020 legislative elections.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) released its first list of the candidates for upcoming Delhi polls on Saturday, January 4. The saffron party fielded Parvesh Verma from New Delhi assembly seat against AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal. Congress has earlier announced former PM of Delhi, Sheila Dikshit’s son Sandeep Dikshit as a contender from New Delhi assembly seat.

BJP’s list features a total of 29 contenders which include Dushyant Gautam from Karol Bagh, Manjinder Singh Sirsa from Rajouri Garden, Kailash Gehlot from Bijwasan, Arvinder Singh Lovely from Gandhi Nagar.

Meanwhile, the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has released their final list of 38 candidates on December 15, 2024. As per the list, Delhi CM Atishi will contest from Kalkaji, Delhi Minister Saurabh Bharadwaj will contest from Greater Kailash and Minister Gopal Rai will contest from Babarpur.
