MS Dhoni has been among the most loved cricketers in the world and has a huge fanbase. While MSD has retired from international cricket, he is seen playing for the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League. Chennai Super Kings has been a platform which is known to find out and nurture young talent. The franchise have produced some brilliant players such as Ravichandran Ashwin, Joginder Sharma, Matheesha Pathirana, Sameer Rizvi and many more. Apart from nurturing young talents, the CSK management also have the calibre to bring out the best in experienced players who are at the end of their cricketing careers.

As the Indian Premier League 2025 auction is all set to take place in Riyadh on November 24 and 25, as per reports, a 17-year-old Mumbai batter Ayush Mhatre has been called by the CSK management for trials ahead of the mega auction of the cash-rich league. The reports further added that the young talent impressed MS Dhoni which later resulted in his call-up for the trials. If he gets selected, the franchise is expected to add him to the team’s squad and the latter can also open along with Ruturaj Gaikwad. Opening was a major concern for CSK in the previous edition of the tournament as Devon Conway was ruled out due to injury.

Ayush Mhatre made his first-class debut for Mumbai during the Irani Cup 2024 match against Rest India. The latter scored 19 and 14 runs in both the innings and later went on to slam a brilliant century against Maharashtra. Mhatre so far has scored 321 runs from five matches at an average of 35.66. The reports add that the Chennai Super Kings CEO Kasi Viswanathan has requested the Mumbai Cricket Association to allow Mhatre attend the CSK trials at the CSKHPC Navalur grounds.
