Cristiano Ronaldo Urges Ten Hag To Change His Mindset

Football sensation Cristiano Ronaldo launched a blistering attack on the manager of Manchester United, Erik Ten Hag, over his underwhelming performances with the club. Ronaldo, who made a tumultuous exit from United in 2022, has reopened his feud with Ten Hag, questioning his mindset and approach.

The five-time Ballon d’Or winner, who rejoined United in 2021, had criticized the club and Ten Hag in an interview with Piers Morgan, hence his sacking. Now, two years later, Ronaldo has fired fresh shots as he insisted a Manchester United coach should fight for the Premier League and Champions League titles.

“They need to rebuild everything, in my opinion. The coach, says they cannot compete to win the League and Champions League. Manchester United coach, you cannot say that you’re not going to fight to win the League or Champions League. You have to be, to mentally say, listen, maybe we don’t have that potential, but I cannot say that. We’re going to try. You have to try,” Ronaldo told Rio Ferdinand in a podcast.

The reason is, that the Red Devils are finding it hard to get the best out of themselves this season, having failed to qualify for the Champions League and lost two matches out of three in the Premier League. Performance on the pitch has been completely contrasting with heavy investments in the previous transfer windows. Cristiano Ronaldo, now an Al Nassr player, also commented on the crisis in a reported spat aimed at Erik Ten Hag, suggesting he consult newly-appointed coach Ruud van Nistelrooy.

“If Ten Hag listens to Ruud, maybe he can (help himself). I think it can help a lot because he knows the club and the club should listen (to) the guys who were there. You [Rio] or Roy Keane or Paul Scholes or Gary Neville, whatever, Sir Alex Ferguson. You cannot, you cannot rebuild a club without knowledge. Not guys who work in an office. They understand,” he added.
