Cristiano Ronaldo added another remarkable record to his illustrious career on Friday, becoming the first player to score in 25 consecutive seasons after finding the net for AI Nassr in their 4-0 victory over AI Riyadh in the Saudi Pro League.
The 41-year-old started the match on the bench but made an immediate impact after being introduced in the second half. Ronaldo replaced Abdullah Al Hamddan in the 62nd minute and needed only 21 minutes to get on the scoresheet
Ronaldo scores in 25th straight season
Ronaldo completed Al Nassr’s emphatic victory in the 83rd minute. Aiman Yahya supplied the ball into the area, with Ronaldo finishing left-footed from the centre of the box to score his first league goal of the 2026-27 campaign.
The goal extended Ronaldo’s remarkable scoring streak, which dates back to the 2002-03 season when he began his senior career with Sporting CP.
Since then, the Portuguese superstar has scored in every season, during spells with Sporting, Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus and Al Nassr. His 25-season scoring run has now taken him past Zlatan Ibrahimovic, who scored in 24 consecutive seasons between 1999-2000 and 2022-23.
Ronaldo moves closer to 1,000 goals
The goal was also significant in Ronaldo’s pursuit of another historic landmark, 1,000 senior career goals. The strike took his career tally to 977, leaving him just 23 goals away from reaching the four-figure mark.
Ronaldo’s tally includes 450 goals for Real Madrid, 145 across his two spells with Manchester United, 101 for Juventus, five for Sporting CP and 130 for Al Nassr. He has also scored 146 goals for Portugal.
Ronaldo’s future remains in focus
Ronaldo’s pursuit of 1,000 goals comes as he approaches the latter stages of his career. The Portugal captain recently suggested that the 2026-27 campaign could be his final season in professional football.
“This is probably my last year of football, and I want to leave a spectacular legacy,” Ronaldo told Vogue in an interview published earlier this month. His contract with Al Nassr runs through the 2026-27 campaign, giving him further opportunities to add to his goal tally and potentially reach the 1,000-goal landmark.
Al Nassr maintain perfect start
Ronaldo’s late goal capped a dominant performance from Al Nassr, who recorded a 4-0 victory over Al Riyadh. Abdulelah Al Amri opened the scoring before Gabriel Angelo doubled the advantage before half-time. Joao Felix then made it 3-0 in the 58th minute before Ronaldo came off the bench to complete the rout.
For Ronaldo, however, the night was about more than another Al Nassr victory. His goal extended an unprecedented scoring run to 25 consecutive seasons and moved him another step closer to the historic 1,000-goal milestone.
