Congress shares AI video of PM Modi selling tea at red-carpet event; BJP slams ‘Naamdar Congress cannot…

A political storm erupted  after Congress leader Ragini Nayak shared an AI-generated video showing Prime Minister Narendra Modi serving tea at what looked like a red-carpet event. The video immediately drew sharp criticism from the BJP, which accused the Congress of mocking the Prime Minister’s humble background and indulging in repeated personal attacks.

AI video shows PM Modi serving tea; Congress draws flak

The video, posted on X by Ragini Nayak with the caption, ‘Now, who did this?’, shows PM Modi wearing a light blue coat and black trousers, holding a kettle and tea glasses while walking on a red carpet. The backdrop features multiple international flags along with the Tricolour.

A voice resembling that of the Prime Minister can be heard saying, ‘Chai bolo, chaiye’. The clip plays on PM Modi’s past assertion that he used to sell tea at a railway station in Gujarat during his childhood.

Within hours, the BJP slammed the Congress, calling the post a deliberate attempt to demean the Prime Minister.

BJP reacts sharply, cites earlier AI row

Condemning the video, BJP spokesperson Shehzad Poonawala said, ‘After Renuka Choudhary insults Parliament & Sena now Ragini Nayak attacks and mocks PM Modi’s Chaiwala background’. He further added, ‘Naamdar Congress cannot stand a Kamdar PM from OBC community who has come from a poor background. They mocked his Chaiwala background earlier too. They abused him 150 times. They abused his mother in Bihar. People will never forgive them.’

Poonawala’s remarks also referenced an earlier incident from September when the Bihar Congress unit posted a 36-second AI-generated video depicting the Prime Minister dreaming about his late mother, who is shown criticising him for his politics in the poll-bound state.

The video sparked significant outrage, leading the Patna High Court to order the Congress to remove it from all social media platforms.

The latest AI controversy has once again ignited a fierce political battle over digital misinformation and personal attacks in election-season politics.
