Congress is emerging as a more powerful party in Maharashtra: Nana Patole

international media news

As there are cracks that have emerged in Maha Vikas Aghadi due to all three parties signing a different tune, Congress State President Nana Patole whose comment has fuelled this controversy further spoke exclusively to
Mirror Now‘s Deputy News Editor Mayuresh Ganapatye.

State Congress Chief Nana Patole is at the center of controversy for his statement that the Congress party will go solo in upcoming elections.

Nana Patole recently expressed his desire to become the CM but now he says that Congress is behind Uddhav Thackeray and MVA will complete its tenure of 5 years. Nana also said that growing and expanding the party is every party’s right.

While explaining Congress’s stand of going solo, Nana also gave examples of Shiv Sena & BJP who contested BMC election separately despite being in power together at the Centre & state. He also said during Prithviraj Chavan’s tenure as CM, Sharad Pawar withdrew his support 6 months early.

What is happening in Maha Vikas Aghadi?
MVA will complete its 5 years tenure. We will remain with the Uddhav Thackeray govt for 5 years. Now if you talk about the letter bomb, Pratap Sarnaik of Shiv Sena has pointed out how BJP is misusing the central agencies against the opposition. Earlier we have also said the same thing in the past.

You said 5 years you will be with Uddhav Thackeray govt then you want to contest BMC election on your own.
All parties have the right to expand and grow their parties. This is not new for Maharashtra when the BJP-Sena govt was there and both contested elections separately at BMC. When NCP was with us in power, many times we had contested local body elections separately. Congress’s stature is going up day-by-day in Maharashtra, we are getting support from people.

Is Shiv Sena targeting Congress purposely?
Pratap Sarnaik’s letter is all about central agencies and the threat of these agencies. Congress will become the number one party and it is expected that some parties won’t digest this fact and will make some noise.

Sharad Pawar and Prashant Kishor met for 2nd time.
Sharad Pawar always tries to do some experiments which not new for us. When NCP was our alliance partner he withdrew the support 6 months before govt’s tenure. We never questioned him on that. If he wants to form a new make alliance our best wishes are with him.
