A team from the National Security Guard (NSG) will be part of the robust security arrangements for the upcoming Coldplay concert in Ahmedabad, a police official confirmed on Wednesday. The British rock band will perform at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Motera on January 25 and 26, marking a key event in its India tour.

Security Arrangements For Concert

To ensure smooth operations, a total of 3,825 policemen will be deployed around the venue, including 14 deputy commissioners of police, 25 assistant commissioners, 63 police inspectors, 142 sub-inspectors, and more than 3,500 constables. Joint Commissioner of Police, Neeraj Badgujar, stated that these personnel will manage law and order for over 1 lakh spectators each day.

In addition to the police force, teams from the Ahmedabad city crime branch and the Special Operations Group (SOG) will monitor strategic locations, including Metro stations, which will serve as key transit points for concertgoers.

A National Security Guard team will be stationed along with three Quick Response Teams (QRT), one team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), and ten teams of Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad. These units will be positioned at crucial points, including the hotel where the Coldplay crew will stay. Medical and paramedical teams will also remain on standby to handle any emergencies.

Disaster & Emergency Plans In Place

The authorities have devised a disaster management plan and an emergency evacuation strategy in collaboration with the Gujarat State Disaster Management Authority. A mock drill based on these plans will be conducted by the police in the coming days to ensure preparedness.

The Coldplay concert will begin at 5:30 pm and conclude by 10:00 pm. The stadium gates will open for spectators at 2:00 pm, giving ample time for fans to enter and be seated for the highly anticipated event.
