Harry Brook scored a magnificent 171 runs innings on Day 3 of the 1st Test vs New Zealand at the Hagley Oval, Christchurch. He reacted to the whirlwind knock and said that these are the kind of innings he wants to be known for and aim to be a match-winner for his team. Brook, while batting at No. 5, came to the crease at 45/3 in England’s 1st innings. Brook already has the 2nd highest batting average in minimum 10 innings in away Test5s with 89.40. He is just behind the legendary Sir Don Bradman’s away average of 102.84. The 171 runs innings became more special as it was a much needed time and brook came to rescue the English innings.

India’s Yashasvi Jaiswal stands on the 4th position in the ICC Men’s Test cricket rankings. He delivered some good performances against Bangladesh and New Zealand, and capped that off with a century in his first Test in Border-Gavaskar Trophy at the intimidating Optus Stadium in Perth. Jaiswal has been the leading Test run scorer for India in 2024. He needs 238 more runs to breach Sachin Tendulkar’s record of highest Test runs in a calendar year. As both India and Australia will be playing their next Test matches on 6 December 2024 which would be interesting to watch whether the youngsters can contain their position or there is a shift in dynamics.
