Chennai: Civic body says residents above 80 years to be administered Covid vaccine at doorstep

The Chennai Corporation in its new initiative has allowed senior citizens to receive Covid vaccines at the doorstep now. As per the report, residents aged above 80 years will get vaccinated at their doorstep.

The civic body has provided two numbers where senior citizens can book their slots easily. The two numbers provided by the GCC are following:

  • 044-25384520
  • 044-46122300

Once the slot is booked, the Chennai Corporation staff would visit their house and will give them COVID vaccine jab.

While commenting on the fresh initiative by the civic body, an official said, “Since people in this age group may find it hard to commute to a public health centre, we have taken this measure to maximise vaccine coverage,” as saying was quoted by the New Indian Express.

Earlier, the Chennai Corporation had announced vaccination at the doorstep for people with disabilities. Under the successful campaign, around 10,000 people have been vaccinated so far by the health care workers.
