Real Madrid faced Man City this Tuesday for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League knockout playoff and won by 3-2 at the Etihad Stadium. Jude Bellingham with the help of Mbappé and Brahim Díaz were able to take over the lead of the two goals scored by Haaland for Man City and lead Real Madrid towards the victory for the first leg and setting an aggregate of 3-2. The match, described as a “modern classic,” lays the groundwork for the second leg that will happen on 19th Feb as both teams are battling for a ticket to a new round.

Madrid Stages Thrilling Comeback To Edge City In First Leg

Real Madrid secured a 3-2 win over Man City and overcame the two deficits to take a narrow first-leg advantage. Haaland scored twice for Man City which includes the late penalty, while Mbappé’s effort had initially given the home side hope. However, Real Madrid refused to back down, showcasing their resilience in a high-intensity clash.

Bellingham And Díaz Seal Victory For Madrid

Brahim Díaz came in the game during the second half after being subbed with Rodrygo and scored the second goal for his Club, and helped in setting up the stage for Jude Bellingham’s decisive goal. Vinícius Júnior’s brilliant play created the winning opportunity, earning him the Player of the Match award. Jude Bellingham also stated to Amazon Prime that “It was a weird one. We played some of our best football of the season and ended up behind. I think we were playing well and creating a lot. We were always confident throughout the game that something would drop for us. I don’t care what form City are in they are still an unbelievable team. It’s always tricky to play against them and we finally took the chance at the end.”
