Union Home Minister Amit Shah chaired a high-powered meeting today with chief ministers of ten states that are affected by Naxal-related activities.

As per reports, he reviewed the current status of anti-Naxal operations and discuss the future roadmap for security and development issues in such areas.

The meeting was held in Vigyan Bhavan, New Delhi.

The chief ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal attended the meeting.

Representatives of each state apprised the Home Minister about the current situation in their state and the progress of development projects.

“Naxal meeting is held every year once or twice as per the need but due to COVID-19, the meeting did not occur last year,” sources said.

Bihar CM Nitish Kumar arrived in the national capital on Saturday evening to attend the meeting in person and share his thoughts on the issue about the Naxal-affected areas during the meeting.

It should be noted that the Central government is planning to intensify operations in Naxal-affected areas in Chhattisgarh where major attacks were witnessed in the last few years hitting security forces.

According to sources, the purpose of the meeting is to discuss the Naxal affected areas, their problems and therefore development on the matter.
