Can’t thank our frontline warriors enough: Shikhar Dhawan after getting vaccinated for COVID-19

Team India batsman Shikhar Dhawan got himself vaccinated against COVID-19 on Thursday. Dhawan was recently seen in action for Delhi Capitals (DC) in the now-suspended Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021. The left-hander was in fine form for his side and was leading the run-scoring charts before the season was halted due to a string of COVID-19 cases in the bio-bubbles of various teams.

After BCCI’s decision to suspend the league, players have been returning to their homes. Dhawan, who hails from Delhi, shared a picture of himself getting his first jab of the COVID-19 vaccine. Anyone above 18 is eligible to get vaccinated against the virus which has been wreaking havoc across the nation.

While sharing a picture of himself getting vaccinated, Dhawan thanked the frontline warriors for their relentless efforts in helping those infected. He also urged others to come forward and get themselves vaccinated in order to defeat COVID-19. Dhawan is one of the first active Indian cricketers to get vaccinated for COVID-19.

“Vaccinated. Can’t thank all our frontline warriors enough for their sacrifices and dedication. Please do not hesitate and get yourself vaccinated as soon as possible. It’ll help us all defeat this virus,” Dhawan wrote in his tweet.

Dhawan was enjoying a stellar campaign this year, scoring heaps of runs for the Delhi Capitals. He was in tremendous form and played numerous match-winning knocks for his side to help them keep the top spot on the table with six wins from eight matches when the league was suspended on May 04.

Dhawan was the active Orange Cap holder with 380 runs from eight matches at 54.28 and a strike rate of over 134 before the league was suspended. He would have liked to continue his red-hot form with the willow had the tournament not been suspended abruptly.
