CAIT Forecasts Rs 12,000 Crore In Business Transactions During Chhath Festival, Check Out All The Details Here

The four-day festival, originally and often celebrated in Bihar is now a world-famous festival celebrated all over the world. Indians who reside on international lands also celebrate Chhath puja as a pride showcasing their culture and origin. Nation watches an enthusiastic participation across all the states. We can see people from Bihar and Jharkhand, as well as Purvanchali communities celebrating it with great pomp and show.

 

All festivals bring a new dimension to the Indian Stock Market, and a chance for traders to participate and grab some opportunity. The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT) has been tracking festival sales this year and is giving favourable predictions to market enthusiasts. On Monday, along with other trade-related announcements, CAIT released data on expected sales during Chhath also. They forecast that the festivities will generate approximately Rs 12,000 crores in trade across the country. The number of people participating in the festival is surprisingly approximately 150 million people.

“Chhath Puja has grown into a major economic event for many traders, with millions of people partaking in the celebrations. This year, the trade volume is expected to exceed Rs 12,000 crore, reflecting the strong economic potential of this festival,” said CAIT National President, B.C. Bhartia.

People Celebrating In Different Region Across The Nation

States that are the origin of Chhath Puja, Bihar and Jharkhand, are not the only states in the nation celebrating this festival. Other states such as Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Odisha, West Bengal, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Chhattisgarh, Vidarbha, and Madhya Pradesh are also the states where you can see people following the culture and strengthening their roots. This is how the whole nation immerses in the festival shenanigans.

Delhi, the national capital, which is home to the majority of the Purvanchal population, also celebrates Chhath on a grand scale. It also becomes a hub for consumers who desire to shop for all the festivals and the wedding season. Markets across the city, including Chandni Chowk, Sadar Bazar, Model Town, Ashok Vihar, Shalimar Bagh, Pitampura, Rani Bagh, Uttam Nagar, Tilak Nagar, and many more, have been bustling with people purchasing traditional festive essentials, Chhath Puja essentials, and wedding essentials. The market is home to major wholesalers for the entire nation.

Many Purvanchalis reside in these states, contributing significantly to the local economy. The festival, which involves worshipping both the setting and rising sun, symbolizes the inclusive nature of Indian culture.

What Are the Chhath Puja Essentials That Are In Demand?

The basic essentials needed in these four days celebrations are items like bamboo baskets, banana leaves, sugarcane, sweets, fruits and vegetables (particularly coconuts, apples, bananas, and green vegetables) have seen a high demand.

Traditional attire, including sarees, lehenga-chunni, salwar-kurta for women, and kurta-pajama, dhoti for men, are the clothing essentials that are in high demand right now and are sold in large quantity. This is benefiting local traders and small-scale industries. Even the Handmade items like diyas and lamps produced on a small scale are also witnessing significant sales.

The Chhath Puja is not just a festivals of people celebrating, But it also brings light and happiness to small scale vendors. The majority of products used during Chhath Puja are made and designed by local artisans and craftspeople, generating new employment opportunities and supporting cottage industries.
