‘Bumrah Came Back…’ AB de Villiers Lauds Jasprit Bumrah After MI’s Thrilling Eliminator Win

After getting prasied by the MI skipper Hardik Pandya the Indian star pacer Jasprit Bumrah is also acknowledged for his amazing performance by former South Africa batter AB de Villiers.  In a thrilling game where 448 runs were scored across 40 overs at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Bumrah was the standout again, giving up just 27 runs in his four over spell. With Gujarat Titans having strong batting, it was Bumrah who got the job done just when Rohit needed him.

AB de Villiers’ Statement

“The players known for stepping up in knockouts faced their fears and delivered. No one gave GT a chance at the halfway mark, but MI held their nerve – especially Jasprit Bumrah, who just keeps delivering in the big moments.”

“Credit to Hardik for holding Bumrah back until the right time. Sai had been playing him well, so delaying his return was a smart move. Before Bumrah came back for his final two overs, I told my son, ‘This game isn’t over until he’s done bowling.’ Once again, he showed why he’s one of the best,” said de Villiers on JioHotstar.

What Happened In MI Vs GT Match

With a win of 20 runs over GT in the Eliminator, MI advanced to Qualifier 2 in IPL 2025. The victory went to MI because of Rohit Sharma’s 81 runs from 50 deliveries and the stingy bowling from Jasprit Bumrah. MI was put into bat after the toss and they managed 228/5 from 20 overs, thanks to excellent performances by Jonny Bairstow, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma and Hardik Pandya. GT lost their opening bat Shubman Gill in the first over, but Sai Sudharsan and Washington Sundar kept them involved in the match. Once they win, MI will play PBKS in Qualifier 2.
