‘Boycott Radhika Apte’ trends on Twitter after leaked nude photos from Parched go viral again

Popular Indian actress Radhika Apte, one of the most celebrated performers in the film industry, often hits the headlines for various reasons. This time, however, the actress is receiving the wrath of social media users. It so happened that since Friday morning, photographs of Radhika from her film Parched are being shared on Twitter.

The said photographs, which had gone viral previously as well, were already a point of controversy back then. But again, the photos have stirred another row on social media. The photos feature Radhika’s lovemaking scenes from the film Parched, co-starring Adil Hussain and Tannishtha Chatterjee in key roles. Ever since Friday morning, ‘Boycott Radhika Apte’ has been one of the top Twitter trends. The hashtag has been trending on social media for a while now.

A social media user tweeted, “Bollywood actress Radhika Apte recently opened up about her experience of going nude on-screen in Leena Yadav’s ‘Parched’ and about the stressful ordeal of having her ‘nude clip’ leaked on the internet in an interview with a magazine. We demand government to #BoycottRadhikaApte.” Many others questioned Bollywood’s silence on the Raj Kundra row. Shilpa Shetty’s husband and businessman Raj has been arrested on the allegations of creating and publishing pornographic content on his app, Hotshots.

Radhika had earlier talked about her role in Parched in an interview with Grazia magazine. The actress had opened up about why she felt like she really needed this role. The actress had shared that in Bollywood, one is constantly told about what to do with their body and in this regard, Radhika was certain that she wouldn’t do anything to her face or body. The actress then shared that a nude clip of hers leaked online, she couldn’t step out of her house for days.

She was quoted saying, “When a nude clip of mine leaked, while I was filming Clean Shaven, I was trolled badly, and it did affect me. I couldn’t step out of the house for four days, not because of what the media was saying but because my driver, watchman, and my stylist’s driver recognised me from the images.” The actress also talked about going nude for Parched and shared that the controversial photos were bare-skinned selfies.

Radhika was further quoted saying, “The controversial photographs were bare-skinned selfies, and anyone with a sane eye would have guessed it wasn’t me. I don’t think there is anything one can do, or one should do, but ignore it. Anything else is a waste of your time. So, when I stripped for Parched, I realised: ‘There’s nothing left for me to hide.'”

Radhika, however, hasn’t yet reacted to the current social media trend.
