BJP using probe agencies because they lost to TMC: Abhishek Banerjee on ED summons

Trinamool Congress (TMC) MP Abhishek Banerjee  launched a blistering attack at the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) accusing it of doing vindictive politics following its defeat in the West Bengal Assembly elections.

Banerjee’s scathing remarks came a day ahead of his appearance before the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in connection with an alleged coal scam case.

Reacting to the allegations, the TMC MP said, “I am ready to face any investigation. If they can produce evidence against me, then there is no need to use ED and CBI against me. I am even ready to be hanged. Why aren’t they bringing any proof in front of the public?”

Accusing BJP of indulging in political vendetta, he said that the BJP could not fight politically with TMC so now they have come down to vindictive politics.

“They are using probe agencies to further their political interests,” he added.

Abhishek, who is West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee’s nephew and is often mooted as her political heir, went on to urge the BJP leaders to sit with him for just five minutes.

“If I am not able to expose them, I will not step foot into the political arena again. ED and CBI turn a blind eye when it comes to those caught on camera accepting bribes,” said the Trinamool leader.

He has been summoned to appear before the investigating officer of the case in New Delhi on September 6 for questioning in a money laundering case linked to the alleged coal scam in West Bengal.
