BJP doing foundation laying of Ganga Expressway started by Mayawati, says Akhilesh ahead of PM Modi’s visit

Ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to UP’s Shahjahanpur, Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has alleged that the ruling BJP is laying the foundation of the Ganga Expressway project that was started by BSP supremo Mayawati.

“This is not Samajwadi Party’s Expressway. The BJP is doing the foundation laying of the programme started by Mayawati. She had dreamt of Ganga Expressway. I think after the foundation stone laying of programmes initiated by the SP government, the Centre has now started to lay the foundation stone of the programmes of the BSP,” ANI quoted Akhilesh as saying.

PM Modi will lay the foundation stone of Ganga Expressway in Shahjahanpur at around 1 pm today. The 594-kilometre long six-lane expressway will be built at a cost of over Rs 36,200 crore.

Taking a dig at the saffron party, the SP chief said that the double engine government of PM Modi-led at Centre and Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath-led in Uttar Pradesh have begun to collide with each other.

“The double engines have begun to collide with each other in Uttar Pradesh. There are many instances where it can be cited that the double engines are colliding. What did the state gain? Where is the investment in the state? How much has the state been cooperated in the schemes by the Centre?” he said.

PM Modi is inaugurating and laying the foundation of various developmental projects in Uttar Pradesh ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh.

When he was asked about PM Modi’s visits to Uttar Pradesh ahead of polls, the former chief minister said the more the saffron party lose its senses, the more the number of BJP leaders will visit the state.

The elections will be held to elect 403 members of the Legislative Assembly in Uttar Pradesh in the month of February to March 2022. The main contest will be seen between the ruling BJP and Akhilesh Yadav-led Samajwadi Party.
