After about a year of announcing divorce with Melinda Gates, Microsoft co-founder and billionaire philanthropist Bill Gates has said that their marriage was great and he would choose to marry his ex-wife again. The couple took the world by shock as they announced their divorce after 30 years of being together in May last year. Several media reports claimed that Gates’ meeting with sex offender Jeffrey Epstein was one of the reasons that led to the couple’s divorce.
Talking about how every marriage undergoes a transition, Gates in an interview with The Sunday Times said, “Mine sadly went through this transition called divorce. But from my point of view, it was a great marriage.”
Would Gates have changed it? He said no. “You know, I wouldn’t choose to marry someone else,” he confessed adding, “Yes. I’m talking about would I marry Melinda all over again. In terms of my future, I don’t have any plans, but I highly recommend marriage.”
While making their divorce announcement, Bill and Melinda Gates had announced that they would continue to run their foundation, the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, together. Gates added that he felt lucky that he is still able to work with his ex-partner at the Foundation.
“We have the annual employee meeting at the Foundation and the Giving Pledge and the annual meeting in June that she and I host together,” the billionaire noted.
“We have a, you know, super important, complex, close relationship where we’ve chosen to work together. And I’m very happy that we get to work together. You know, we built the Foundation together,” he told The Times.
The couple had tied the knot in Hawaii in 1994 and are parents to 3 children — Jennifer Katharine Gates, Phoebe Adele Gates and Rory John Gates.
