Bihar’s Game-Changing Expressways! 10 Mega Projects Worth Rs 1.43 Lakh Crore On The Cards

Roads in Bihar are set to undergo massive transformation with several expressways on the cards. As per the latest reports, at least ten new expressways are proposed for the ‘land of Buddha’, expected to meet urban demands, slash travel time, enhance connectivity, and boost economic development. These expressways built at an estimated cost of Rs 1,43,000 crore will be a game-changer once ready. It will reduce travel time between Bihar and its neighboring states including West Bengal, UP, and Jharkhand.

Varanasi-Kolkata Expressway

This 6-lane greenfield expressway passing through four districts of Bihar is expected to ease traffic congestion and facilitate trade between Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. The total cost of building the 612-km-long stretch is around Rs 30,000 crores.

Patna Ring Road

The six-lane Patna Ring Road is being constructed within the city for Rs 11,000 crore.

Munger-Mirzachowki Expressway

The 125-km-long Munger-Mirzachowki Expressway is worth Rs 8000 crore.

Patna-Ara-Sasaram Expressway

The 118-km-long Patna-Ara-Sasaram Expressway is expected to slash the travel time and make the commute easy. It is being constructed at a total estimated cost of Rs 4,000 crore.

Patna-Bettiah Expressway

This four-lane expressway linking Patna to Bettiah city is reportedly built at Rs 6,500 crore.

Bakarpur–Dumria Ghat Expressway

The 92-km-long expressway connecting Bakarpur with Dumriya Ghat will be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 2200 crore. Once ready, it will ensure smooth traffic flow between Patna, Muzaffarpur, Saran, and Vaishali.

Raxaul-Haldia Greenfield Expressway

The 6-Lane Greenfield Expressway will reportedly connect Raxual in Bihar’s East Champaram to West Bengal’s Haldia city. The total cost of building this 692-km long expressway is Rs 40,000 crore.

Gorakhpur-Siliguri Expressway

This 520-km-long expressway will link Gorakhpur in UP to Siliguri in West Bengal. It is being built at an estimated cost of Rs 25,000 crore.

Amas-Darbhanga Expressway

This 198 km long expressway is reportedly Bihar’s first expressway, built for Rs 8,000 crore.

Patna-Ara-Buxar Expressway

The construction of this 181 km long highway costs Rs 9000 crore.
