Death hoaxes have been around for a long time, but they’ve been given a faster, more far-reaching life in the age of social media.

The latest celeb who became a victim of death hoax is popular Haryanavi singer-dancer-actress Sapna Choudhary. The fake news reports of the former Bigg Boss contestant passing away in a road accident in Haryana’s Sirsa is doing rounds on social media. As fans continue to mourn TV hunk Sidharth Shukla’s sudden demise, the shocking news of Sapna’s death spread like a wildfire on the internet. 

While the source of the fake death news report is still not confirmed, fans started paying their tributes to Sapna and also offered condolences to her family. Amidst the false death alarm, Sapna’s manager apparently confirmed to a leading publication that she is fit and fine. Moreso, Sapna’s latest update on Instagram was a day ago in which she thanked her fans and followers for always supporting her. 

So how did the news of her false death went viral on social media? Reportedly, a dancer by the name of Preeti, who is also popularly known as Junior Sapna, lost her life in a road accident on 29th August. Soon after the mishap, netizens confused Jr Sapna’s death with Sapna Choudhary and started posting RIP notes on the internet. 

Meanwhile, Sapna made headlines in 2020 for her hush-hush wedding with now -husband Veer Sahu. The couple tied the knot in a private ceremony and soon after welcomed their firstborn, baby boy. Like Sapna, Veer also belongs to the entertainment world and isis a singer and composer by profession.
