A Patna civil court granted pre-arrest bail to Educator Faisal Khan, popularly known as Khan Sir, along with his two guards in connection with a coaching centre clash case in the city’s Musallahpur area. The hearing was earlier adjourned from July 10 to July 13 owing to the judge’s absence.
The dispute between the rival coaching institutions in Patna relates to the attack on Khan Global Studies (KGS) on June 2, when a group of 15 to 20 people allegedly damaged the premises and threw stones at the institute operated by Khan Sir.
Khan Sir had denied allegations against him
According to media reports, the weapons used in the firing at Khan Sir’s coaching institute have been seized and sent for forensic examination. Meanwhile, a First Information Report (FIR) was registered at the Kadamkuan police station, and both the bodyguards remain in judicial custody. The Patna Educator has, however, denied the accusations made against him.
Following the incident, Khan Sir had accused the people linked to a rival coaching institute of being behind the attack on KGS. On the other hand, the members of that rival institute claimed that Faisal Khan had arranged the episode himself.
Guards allege Khan Sir ordered them to open fire
Reports added that the two bodyguards detained told cops during interrogation that they had opened fire on Khan Sir’s instructions. They alleged that the firing order was issued after an alleged incident of physical assault outside the coaching institution, as the situation escalated and a crowd gathered.
The two guards, identified as 38-year-old Pradeep Kumar and 34-year-old Talebar Singh, are residents of Uttar Pradesh. They were hired through a Noida-based security agency.
Matter remains under investigation
During questioning, the guards said that they had fired two rounds each from their licensed .315-bore rifles after being instructed to do so. They revealed that the Educator was present during the incident.
The vandalism and stone-pelting case remains under investigation, with police examining the June 2 attack on KGS and the alleged firing by the guards, as well as the claims made by Khan Sir and members of the rival coaching institute.
