esterday, US President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris announced their support to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Framework agreed to between representatives of both major parties. The fact sheet announced by the White House states that the objective of the $ 1.2 trillion proposals is built around sustainability, equality and resilience and a key move in the implementation of the President’s promise to “Build Back Better” for the US.

Basis the fact sheet released by the White House Bipartisan Framework currently seeks to:

– Improve transportation options for Americans with healthy and sustainable options. This will involve expanding transit and rail networks across the country.

– Rebuild and repair roads and bridges with a focus on mitigation of climate change, equity and safety for all users including cyclists and pedestrians

– Build a national network of 500,000 EV chargers across the country

– Domestic manufacturing of EVs and components and electrification of buses – school and transit

– Eliminate lead service lines and pipes to ensure delivery of clean water to schools, child care facilities and communities that do not yet have it

– Provide Americans with reliable high-speed internet and upgrade power infrastructure through the building of transmission lines and expansion of renewable energy

– Create an Infrastructure Financing Authority to facilitate the financing of clean energy and clean transport

The current proposal envisages a spend of $ 579 billion with transportation infrastructure being $ 312 billion and would be broadly financed by unspent emergency relief funds, corporate user fees and closing the tax gap.

The fact sheet presents that the Framework will generate growth, economic benefits, create jobs, improve equality and living standards, and reduce climate pollution thereby addressing environmental challenges and making the US economy more resilient.
