Bhumi Pednekar made her Bollywood debut in 2015 with Dum Laga Ke Haisha, a film that broke stereotypes and won hearts. Looking back, she feels proud of how the film remains fresh and relatable even today and said, “I watched it again recently, and it still feels new. The power of good content never fades.”

Over the last decade, Bhumi has portrayed a range of diverse characters. From playing a small-town woman in Bala to an elderly sharpshooter in Saand Ki Aankh, her career choices reflect her commitment to challenging roles. Sharing about this she said, “I’ve played a queer character, a journalist fighting for young girls, and even an empowered wife in Pati Patni Aur Woh.”

The Struggles Behind The Transformation

For Dum Laga Ke Haisha, Bhumi had to gain significant weight, a challenge she embraced wholeheartedly. Bhumi shared, “I spent a year gaining weight and loved every moment of it because I was living my dream. Losing it, however, was tough.”

Bhumi’s Favourite & Most Challenging Roles

While she cherishes all her roles, Dum Laga Ke Haisha and Bhakshak hold a special place in her heart. She also takes pride in Saand Ki Aankh, a film that many doubted she and Taapsee Pannu could pull off. Sharing on her most challenging role she said, “Playing a 65-year-old grandmother at a young age was a huge challenge, but I’m proud of it.”

Bhumi remains hungry for roles that push boundaries. While she is grateful for the trust filmmakers have in her, she hopes to work with more of her dream directors and concluded, “I want to continue doing content-driven films that stay relevant for generations.”
