The Trinamool Congress on Thursday upped the ante on West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar after the accused in the fake vaccinations row in the state appeared to have alleged links with the Governor.

“It’s very bad if the Governor has any relation with the man who cheated people. Jagdeep Dhankhar talks about every issue. Why is he quiet over fake vaccines?” TMC’s Sukhendu Sekhar Roy said while showing pictures of fake IAS Debanjan Deb’s security personnel who were also seen in pictures with the WB Governor’s family.

Deb (28) Debanjan Deb was arrested last week for masquerading as an IAS officer and as the Joint Commissioner of the Kolkata Municipal Corporation to operate fake immunisation camps across Kolkata. during which people were adminsitered fake shots of the Covid-19 vaccine.

“The state government will look into it as the report has been asked for. The special investigation team (SIT) is doing a probe. Let it (report) come out,” Roy said.

One more person has been arrested in connection with the case, taking the total people arrested to seven, a senior police officer informed on Thursday.

The person, the owner of a flat in Kasba area of Kolkata that Deb had rented to set up his office, was nabbed from his residence in North 24 Parganas district’s Birati late on Wednesday.

“He had given his office on rent to Debanjan Deb. It seems that he knew that Deb posed as an IAS officer to fool people but he continued to help him. We are verifying this fact,” a police officer said, according to news agency PTI.

Three other associates of Deb were arrested on Saturday.

The police have slapped ‘attempt to murder’ charge on Deb and his accomplices, along with other sections of the Indian Penal Code.
