A 22-year-old cricketer from Bengal tragically passed away after he suffered a sudden heart attack during a gym session. The incident occurred on Friday morning in Bolpur, which is located in the Birbhum district, where Priyajit was living. The youngster had big dreams of representing Bengal in the Ranji Trophy and even playing for India.

Cricket was not just his passion, but a way of life. His journey in the sport began from a very young age, following which his talent made him a standout player. He quickly rose to prominence when he played the 2018-19 inter-district Under-16 cricket tournament, which was organised by the Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB). In this event, he emerged as the top run-getter and was also awarded by the CAB for his stellar performance.

Fitness was always a key part of his daily routine, and he was extremely motivated by one of his idols, Virat Kohli. He regularly visited the gym and did the same on Friday morning, but suddenly, while working out at a fitness centre in Bolpur’s Mission Compound area, he collapsed. Immediate steps were taken to revive him, but he tragically succumbed to a cardiac arrest.

His untimely death has sent shock waves around the entire cricketing community, as the loss of such a promising player, whose cricketing dreams were cut short far too soon. One of the other alarming issues is the increasing number of heart attacks in youth these days, which needs to be immediately addressed.
