The 18th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) has reached its grand finale, with all four playoff teams confirmed. The final showdown is set to take place on June 3 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.

Ahead of the much-anticipated match, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has planned a special closing ceremony that will pay tribute to the Indian Armed Forces and celebrate the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’.

IPL 2025 Closing Ceremony Dedicated to the Armed Forces

BCCI Secretary Devjit Saikia has confirmed that this year’s closing ceremony will be entirely dedicated to honoring the Indian Army, Navy, and Air Force. Speaking to Sportstar, Saikia revealed that the BCCI has invited several high-ranking dignitaries, including the Chief of Defence Staff and the heads of all three branches of the military.

“The board salutes the bravery, courage, and selfless service of our armed forces. Their heroic efforts under ‘Operation Sindoor’ continue to protect and inspire the nation,” Saikia stated. “As a mark of respect, we have decided to dedicate the IPL 2025 closing ceremony to our soldiers.”

What was ‘Operation Sindoor’?

‘Operation Sindoor’ was launched by the Indian Army on May 7, 2025, in response to the deadly terrorist attack in Pahalgam on April 22, which claimed the lives of 26 innocent civilians. The operation was aimed at targeting and dismantling terrorist hideouts in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). It focused on groups linked to banned organizations like Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e-Taiba, and Hizbul Mujahideen.

Now, as Inter Services efforts under ‘Operation Sindoor’ continue to be recognized across the country, their success will be celebrated on one of India’s biggest sporting stages – the IPL 2025 final.
