The second Test is underway at the Adelaide Oval in Adelaide and is scheduled to end on December 10. Indian pace attack led by Jasprit Bumrah showcased an exceptional performance which exposed the Australian batting lineup during the first Test and helped the Indian team win the match by a margin of 295 runs. While, Bumrah is a pretty experienced bowler, he is also leading a pretty inexperienced bowling attacking consisting of Harshit Rana and Mohammed Siraj.

BCCI Awaiting NCA’s Nod For Picking Mohammed Shami For BGT Series

Due to such inexperience, many Indian fans were demanding the selection of ace Indian pacer Mohammed Shami for the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25. Shami hasn’t played a single Test since the 2023 World Test Championship final. The right-handed Indian pacer suffered an ankle injury after the 2023 ODI World Cup and underwent a surgery due to which he had been out of cricketing action for more than an year. However, Shami has recovered from his injury and is currently playing domestic cricket for Bengal.

As per a report by The Indian Express, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is very keen of picking up Mohammed Shami for the rest of Australian tour. The report states that BCCI is awaiting the nod of National Cricket Academy to pick Shami for the upcoming BGT Tests. The report adds that BCCI has asked for the final fitness results from the NCA and once he is declared fit, Shami will be pretty much ready to fly to Australia instantly. The third Test match of the five-match series will be played in Brisbane from December 14 to 18.
