Bathinda School Teacher To Be Awarded By President Of India On Teacher’s Day

Rajinder Singh, a government school teacher from Bathinda will be honoured with the National Teacher’s Award this year. He will be felicitated by the President of India Droupadi Murmu on September 5 which is celebrated as Teacher’s Day across India.

Gratitude pours

On coming across this piece of good news, Singh expressed his happiness and gratitude and said, “I will be honoured with the National Teachers’ Award by President Droupadi Murmu on September 5. This is being given for my contributions to the upliftment of school education… I joined this school in 2015. At that time, this school had 33 students and only me as a teacher. Today, this school has 9 postings for teachers and around 250 students…It is a result of a collective effort.”

Transformation in Bathinda school

When Rajinder Singh joined that government school in 2015, he was the only teacher with 33 students who used to come to the government building for enlightenment. The building barely had hopes for the future of the nation and the society. Now, in 2024, the school has 9 postings for teachers and around 250 students. The elated teacher calls it a collective effort.

The education system particularly in government schools has been questionable for decades since the independence. Private schools have been grabbing all the strength and minting money only in the name of quality education. An attempt to change this picture was made in Delhi a few years ago, however, there are teachers in other parts of India too who are putting all their efforts into making it good for the children. A few examples are the government school of Narayanpur, Bahraich and this school in Bathinda.

Every year, the government honours teachers who do exceptionally well in the upliftment of children via education. This year Rajinder Singh from Bathinda, Punjab has made it to the list.
