The charismatic Indian cricket captain, Rohit Sharma, hunged his T20I boots post the triumphant 2024 T20 World Cup that he won most thrillingly.

While he pulled back from T20Is, Rohit remains a batting giant in Tests and ODIs. The ICC Champions Trophy and the World Test Championship Final are now scheduled soon; therefore, these tournaments have become a priority for him again.

Fans have become nostalgic for Rohit in the T20s, as seen in a viral video when one supporter told him, “Dada aapko bahut miss kar rahe hain T20s,” to which Rohit simply replied, “Bas ho gaya yaar,” but that was it.

Harbhajan Singh Prefers Rohit Sharma

Former Indian spinner Harbhajan Singh was the latest to weigh in on the row over captaincy, preferring Rohit over MS Dhoni. “I will prefer Rohit over Dhoni because he is the people’s captain. He constantly interacts with fans and teammates, making them feel connected,” Bhajji stated while speaking to Sports Yaari.

He compared this with Dhoni’s more stoic style of leadership, pointing out that Rohit speaks through his actions, which helps him develop an excellent rapport with his players. “The best captains inspire their team to fight for victory. Both Dhoni and Rohit have done well in this respect,” Harbhajan said, adding that Rohit was up there with the cricketing legends.

While Rohit remains sidelined for T20Is, the responsibility is undertaken by Suryakumar Yadav, though he still captains the Indians in ODIs and Tests.

Recently, leading India to a 2-0 clean sweep against Bangladesh under Rohit Sharma’s captaincy. The first match at Chennai was won by India by 280 runs, and the second match was won by 7 wickets. Fans are now eagerly waiting for his further contributions in the longer formats of the game as Rohit Sharma embarks on this new chapter of his career.
