Bankrupt Pakistan makes shocking decision months after Operation Sindoor; Asim Munir decides to…, set to affect all Pakistani soldiers due to…

Pakistan is reportedly set to increase the salaries of its military personnel by up to 25 percent. The move comes shortly after the country announced a significant increase in its defence budget, despite facing serious economic challenges. The reported salary revision is being seen as part of Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir’s efforts to strengthen the military following recent tensions with India.

According to a report by India Today, citing sources, the decision was taken to boost the morale of soldiers after India’s Operation Sindoor. The revised package is said to include a salary hike of up to 25 percent for both officers and soldiers, along with enhanced allowances and benefits. However, the Pakistan Army has not officially confirmed the development.

Revised pay package for soldiers

As per the report, the revised compensation package includes a 25 percent increase in the temporary relief allowance and a threefold rise in the disturbance allowance. Several other benefits, including cash-in-lieu payments, uniform allowance and batman allowance, have reportedly been doubled.

The revised salary structure is expected to apply across all ranks and will significantly increase Pakistan’s defence salary expenditure. Intelligence sources quoted in the report claim that the new pay package is being implemented with immediate effect.

Linked to Operation Sindoor

Reports suggest that the decision to raise military salaries and improve benefits was influenced by the aftermath of India’s Operation Sindoor.

Following the Pahalgam terror attack, India launched Operation Sindoor in May 2025, targeting multiple terrorist and military installations inside Pakistan. The operation reportedly dealt significant setbacks to the Pakistan Army.

In the months since, Pakistan’s military has taken several steps that indicate a renewed focus on improving operational preparedness and boosting the welfare of its personnel.

Salary hike despite economic crisis

The reported salary increase comes at a time when Pakistan continues to face severe economic difficulties. Even as the country struggles financially, the government has allocated more resources to defence while reducing spending in other areas related to public development.

The development also reflects the military’s continued influence in Pakistan, where the armed forces have traditionally played a dominant role in national affairs and policymaking.
