Bangladesh: Mob Attacks 3 Hindu Temples In Chattogram Amid Protest

A mob attacked three Hindu temple in Chattogram situated in Bangladesh. In Chattogram only the clash erupted after charges filed against the former member of ISKCON.

 

As per reports Times of India, the incident happened around 2:30 pm in Harish Chandra Munsef lane. They targeted the Shantaneshwari Matri Temple, Shantaneshwari Kalibari Temple and the Shani temple.

According to Temple authorities, slogan shouting people’s brickbats made damage to the religious sites. Bangladesh Officials has reported the minimal damage, as per reports by TOI.

As per media reports and viral video, it is being pointed that mob attacked the Hindu Temples after Friday prayer.

Chinmoy Krishna Das got arrested on Monday, which leads to protest by his followers across Bangladesh.

Authorities filed sedition case on 19 people, which includes Chinmoy Krishna Das. The case was registered at Chattogram’s Kotwali Police station.

Bangladesh’s Financial authorities on Friday ordered the Banks to freeze the account of 17 people who are linked with ISKCON, this includes the former member of ISKCON Chinmoy Krishna Das.

Bangladesh Financial Intelligence Unit (BFIU) has issued directive on Thursday to suspend all transaction for these accounts, as per media reports.

They also masked the Banks to provide the account related information that will have the transactional record of 17 individuals.

MEA On Situation In Bangladesh

Ministry Of External Affairs Spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said that, ”India has consistently and strongly raised with the Bangladesh government the threats and targeted attacks on Hindus and other minorities. We made our position very clear as far as the situation of Hindus and minorities in Bangladesh is concerned. The interim government must live up to its responsibility of protecting all minorities.”
