Bangladesh May Face Power Shortage As Yunus Government Struggles With…

There are reports that the country could face power crisis this summer, as they are unable to pay the electricity bills, as reported by Navbharat Times. This may leads to economic issues in the country. After he came into power over 100 plus political cases has been put against the ousted Prime Minister of Bangladesh Sheikh Hasina.

The Bangladesh Power Development Board has a debt of Tk 43,473 crore to various power producers, reported by Dhaka Tribune. The local IPPs are owed about Tk16,000. Joint venture power plants, Pera and Rampal are due to pay Tk 10 thousand crore.

Bangladesh Independent Power Producers Association Cautions About It

The Bangladesh Independent Power Producers Association has cautioned that if the government pay its outstanding payments then the country might face a shortfall of 3,500-4,000 megawatts in power generation, as reported by NavBharat Times.
