Baloch Journalist Abdul Latif Shot Dead By Pakistan-Backed Militia In Awaran In Front Of His Wife And Children

In a shocking turn of events, renowned journalist Abdul Latif Baloch was shot dead in the early hours of Friday inside his home in Mashkay, district Awaran. According to the Baloch Yakjehti Committee, the attack was carried out by a Pakistan-backed militia. Baloch was reportedly executed in front of his wife and children. Known for his fearless reporting in a conflict-ridden region, Abdul Latif chronicled the oppression and resistance of the Baloch people. His assassination is being viewed as part of what activists describe as Pakistan’s “kill and dump” policy—an alleged effort to eliminate dissent and erase Baloch identity.

In February, Abdul Latif’s son, Saif Baloch, along with seven other family members, was forcibly disappeared by security forces. Their bodies were later discovered, confirming growing fears that entire families are being systematically targeted for elimination.

Human rights organisations and Baloch advocacy groups are now calling for urgent international intervention. They are urging the United Nations, global media, and press freedom watchdogs to break their silence and take concrete action against what they describe as ongoing crimes against humanity in Balochistan, carried out under a veil of impunity.
