Defence Minister Rajnath Singh talked about education and terrorism saying despite being a millionaire someone can become Osama bin Laden while a newspaper hawker can become APJ Abdul Kalam.

Speaking at the convocation of Dr. DY Patil Vidyapeeth in Pune, Singh citing an article written by American political commentator and author Thomas L. Friedman said people in Infosys and Al Qaeda are highly educated and have mission and commitment but the difference between the two is that one carries out 9/11 attacks while other works for the society.
He further said that the world saw 9/11 hijackers who were quite young taking complex pilot training in the United States.

In India too, there are young people involved in terrorist activities people who are quite educated, the Defence minister said.

Our dream is to establish India again in the position of Jagadguru, Singh said adding that the Union government wants to make India powerful, wealthy as well as knowledgeable.

India’s power is meant for the welfare of the world and not to scare anyone, he added.

‘Vocal for local is like Swadeshi 2.0’

The Defence Minister also spoke about self-reliance.

“India has taken a resolution under the leadership of our Prime Minister. That resolution is self-reliance. Today India does not want to depend on other countries for its needs. To make us self-reliant in most of the matters, Make in India is being promoted in the country,” he added.

PM Modi’s ‘vocal for local’ is like ‘Swadeshi 2.0’ which was first strengthened by Lokmanya Tilak and Mahatma Gandhi.

This request of ‘vocal for local’ will not only strengthen the youth in the country but will also increase employment opportunities for them, he said.

“This is the basic difference between the two which depends on ethos. Despite being a millionaire someone can become Osama bin Laden while despite being a newspaper vendor someone can become APJ Abdul Kalam,” ANI quoted Singh as saying.
