A local leader in Assam associated with the Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) party has clarified after being questioned for making derogatory remarks against Prime Minister (PM) Narendra Modi, former PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee and former President Abdul Kalam.
In a viral video, Prahlad Brahma of the BPF party was found comparing the aforementioned leaders with ‘Eunuchs’. The comments were made on the 20th Bodoland Day organised by the Parbatjhora District Committee of the BPF party in the Kokrajhar district of Assam. The viral video was shared on Twitter, after which, the Assam police took stock of the concern.
Speaking to Times Now, the SP office of Kokrajhar stated that enquiry for the matter has begun. “We have taken note of it and initiated an inquiry. We are analysing how genuine the video is and whether it is real or fake. No one has been detained. The initial stage of investigation has started,” said a senior police official. Following this, the leader Prahlad Brahma was called by the local police.
Prahlad Brahma has clarified the matter that his comments were taken out of context. In an interview with Times Now, he stated that one of his party leaders was insulted for not being married and was referred to as eunuch. “That’s why I said that if by that logic someone is a eunuch then many big leaders who are unmarried will be eunuchs. In that by slip of tongue, I might have named taken names of few great names. I don’t want to insult anyone and I apologise to everyone deeply to all the countrymen,” said Brahma.
