MC Mary Kom’s remarkable run in the 2021 edition of the Asian Championships has come to an end on Sunday. Mary Kom has bagged the silver medal after the six-time world champion was upstaged by Kazakhstan’s Nazym Kyzaibay in the women’s 51kg final of the Asian Boxing Championships. Regarded as one of the greatest Indian boxers in the history of the sport, Mary Kom had to settle for a silver medal in the recently concluded Asian Boxing Championships in Dubai.

The veteran boxer was defeated by Kyzaibay in the summit-clash of the women’s flyweight division (51kg).  The two-time champion who hails from Kazakhstan has successfully thwarted Kom’s bid for a gold medal by defeating her Indian counterpart by a split decision in the final of the Women’s Fly event. The Six-time world champion and boxing icon was eyeing her sixth gold medal in Asian Championships after her impressive win over Mongolia’s Lutsaikhan Altantsetseg in the semifinals on Thursday.
