et’s face it we all have our pet peeves. Be it being afraid of the dark, or scaring ourselves over tiny critters and/ or cockroaches. Experts say that there are various factors that might contribute to developing phobias, it is really difficult to pinpoint one exact reason. They could stem from past incidents of trauma or be reactions and responses to panic or fear.
And why should our favourite celebrities be any different? They may have larger-than-life personas on the big screen, but at the end of the day, they are as human as we are and have their own fears and insecurities.
For example, Arjun Kapoor in one of his earlier interviews with a publication has mentioned a unique phobia that he has. The actor had revealed that he doesn’t have a ceiling fan at home because he is scared of them. Not only Arjun, but there are also a number of other Bollywood celebrities with their own weird phobias.
According to reports, the actress is so scared of tomatoes that she has even rejected a commercial to endorse a tomato ketchup brand. Her dear of tomatoes apparently became worse during the tomato festival scene in Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
Sonam Kapoor is scared of elevators
The Neerja actress is scared of elevators and prefers taking the stairs. She had once revealed how her sister had made her ride up and down 55 storeys of the hotel in an elevator in which the family was staying. But it seems that the mission was not very successful.
Vidya Balan is afraid of cats
As per reports, during a magazine shoot in Kamalistan Studios Vidya spotted some cats. She had just come out of her van after the lunch break and she got so scared that she climbed and stood on top of a chair and refused to get off. It turns out there is even a name associated with this fear. It is called Ailurophobia.
Deepika Padukone fears snakes
The Bajirao Mastani actress suffers from Ophidiophobia, which is the fear of snakes. She makes sure that none of her films has scenes that require reptiles.
Celina Jaitly stays away from butterflies
Reports say that Celina Jaitly once reportedly almost fell off a cliff while shooting on the sets of No Entry after she spotted a butterfly nearby! The team was shooting for No Entry in Thailand when Celina spotted a butterfly. She got so scared that she started running and heading straight for a cliff. She would have fallen had not her co-stars Lara Dutta and Esha Deol saved her.
Ranbir Kapoor hates cockroaches
Ranbir Kapoor suffers from a condition called Katsaridaphobia, or fear of snakes. As per reports, he does not even enter a house if he spots cockroaches anywhere.
Aamir Khan suffers from the fear of death
It seems that Mr Perfectionist’s biggest fear is not a mess, but rather death. According to reports, the actor shared his strange phobia while shooting for Dangal. The actor was given a 5-month break between his schedules and he constantly fretted over what would happen to the film if anything happened to him. The fear of death is called thanatophobia.
Apart from them Shah Rukh Khan suffers from Equinophobia, or fear of horses, Anushka Sharma has Amaxophobia, or, the fear of driving and Alia Bhatt is scared of the dark.
